About Us:

CEP Local 10b is a progressive union of over 300 members employed in the Pulp Industry with
3 sub-units in the Auto Parts and Service Industry.

Our main employer is Domtar and the sub-units are employed by Dearborn Ford and Smith
Chevrolet Cadillac.

We are very active in our community and support many initiatives in the Kamloops area. We
have been vocal in our opposition to many privatization schemes brought about by a provincial
government bent on selling public assets to the highest bidder. The Coquihalla Coalition, the
BCGEU campaign to stop the closing of public liquor stores, the BC Rail campaign, and the
campaign to stop the selling of BC Hydro have all received a great deal of support from Local
10B. We will continue to do our part to stop the wholesaling of our beautiful province to people
and corporations with no vested interest in our land other than to pillage and profit from our
resources.

On a larger scale, our Local is also active, in conjunction with the CEP National, in a number of
countries around the world, trying to bring food, healthcare and basic necessities to people who
have nothing. Through the Humanity Fund, we currently support campaigns in Brazil, Peru, Africa
and most recently, have contributed to the relief fund to benefit victims of the Tsunami in
Southeast Asia.

Our main focus, however, continues to be dealing with the employer at our respective worksites.
In the day and age of Globalization, people who are employed by fundamentally American
companies face a huge task in trying to maintain a half decent standard of living while jobs are
being outsourced to third world countries. The race for the bottom in regards to wages, working
conditions, downsizing, and environmental standards knows no bounds when you are dealing
with multi-national corporations, and the first line of defense for all working people still remains
with the Organized Unions. CEP Local 10B remains committed to this cause.
